Mature Horses

Ironwood Farm is the largest Fjord breeder in Virginia, but most of our sales horses are youngsters.  We have been active in consignment sales for other owners and breeders.  We know the Fjord breed, we know the market and we are selective on what horses we will sell.

If you are a buyer, you can be assured that Ironwood Farm will:

• Collect and provide a history of the horse’s ownership, health history and training

• Have the horse evaluated in riding or driving by a knowledgeable horse professional

• Provide accurate information on the age,  height and abilities of a horse

• Assure that a current Coggins and registration papers are transferred to the buyer

• Provide videos, photos and answer questions

• Assist with any shipping arrangements

We have bought and sold over 100 horses in the last two decades.  We look for a suitable match for the buyer and the horse, It is our hope that the horse and buyer will remain together for many years.  We only sell consignment horses that are present on our farm.

 

If you are a seller, you can be assured that Ironwood Farm will:

• Create professional videos and photos that market your horse

• Provide a professional rider to demo ride the horse for buyers

• Give your horse regular care and attention including keeping the horse in work as needed

• Screen buyers and provide you information on their suitability as a match for your horse

• Bring you all offers and never sell a horse without your permission

• Manage the PPE and shipping arrangements

Again, we are looking for good homes for all horses.  We are seeking good matches between the buyer and a horse. 

 

As horse people, we feel that the horse must “win” in any sale.  The horse needs to go to a situation where it is likely to be successful.
