MARES

SASCONSF Saska, S4, G4 (DOB 4/11/92) is a Norwegian Fjord from imported Dutch lines. She’s 14.1, rides and drives. Her movement is fantastic. She is used on our lesson program.  Saska is our alpha mare and worshipped as a goddess by the other horses.   We appreciate her as the dam of our stallion, Ironwood Blitzen.  His ability to perform is a tribute to her own athleticism.

FC Madellin (DOB 5/1/98) is a rare white dun. There are only about 40 +/- MADHEADin the United States. However, she does not stay white for long. She spends much of her time rolling and working on being a brown dun. Maddie has been used in lessons and has become quite a show horse. She stunned us by winning a reserve championship at her second show.  She has been evaluated as a high red ribbon Fjord on conformation. She has produced four lovely foals, Ironwood Helena (white dun), Ironwood Kristiana and Ironwood Lordalen and Ironwood Premiert, the latter two foals being a rare white dun stallions.

MABHELLEHelle, S1, G4 (pronounced Hailey) (DOB 4/7/98) is one of the sweetest horses around. Good thing, too because she is named after the Norse goddess of death. She rides and drives like a champ. She loves people and never misses the chance for a pat. Helle is one of our best of our lesson program.  She recently took the championship in her division at a local show.  Helle has produced three foals:  Ironwood Danne Ekstrom (red dun), Ironwood Julian and Ironwood Orion.

ELLIHEADLynnhaven Elli (DOB 4/4/99) is the farm busybody and pest. She is interested in EVERYTHING.  She’s the funniest horse on the farm and Elli knows it.  This horse needs her on TV show. A daughter of Malcom Locke, she is a blue ribbon winner at the 2001 VA Fjord Evaluation in conformation. Elli has produced three foals, Ironwood Erik Aleksander, Ironwood Isfjell (red dun) and Ironwood Niko.  Elli has fabulous movement and deserves some recognition.

Lupin, S1, G1, E, V and HOF (4/26/1995)

We are pleased to announce the purchase of a very special high quality mares, Lupin, S1, G1, V, E, HOF.  We had been leasing her for the last few years and just had to keep her!  Lupin is the daughter of our own Serina and is one of the few Fjords in North America to have achieved this level of success in performance.  The HOF is the Hall of Fame award which means that at least two of her offspring also have achieve medallions of quality in the NFHR system.  So Lupin not only can do it, she can reproduce that ability in her offspring.  Lupin has had seven foals, including our 2009 red dun colt. Ironwood Roheryn.  We thank Catherine Lassesen for the opportunity to lease Lupin and we are looking forward to successful show seasons as well as a future foal.

SALEKSMikaela’s Aleksia (6/18/05) - A couple of years ago, Margaret saw a picture of Aleksia as a young filly.  She told her breeder that if she ever wanted to sell her, just let her know.  Luckily that happened in 2008 and Aleksia has joining the mare band.  She’s just being started under saddle and shows performance potential.  Her evaluation score for conformation was a high red (78) and we think with further maturity, may earn a blue ribbon.  Aleksia is a lovely mare and a pleasure to own.

GELDINGS

Ironwood Crow CROWHEADHreidar (5/31/04)

Our latest addition to the riding program was born on our farm in 2004.  Crow is a half brother to our stallion, Blitzen.   They share Saska as their dam.   He is by the gray dun stallion, Ulend, and is a lovely example of a draftier type Fjord.  He was been started under saddle without issue.  In fact, he has no issues with anything whatsoever.  Crow is Mr. Mellow.  He will debut in leadline lessons this year.  We recently took him the NFHR Virginia Evaluation where he received a red ribbon (74.5) in conformation.  The evaluators felt that his conformation score would improve with maturity.  Next time, we’ll do performance tests.

Short Creek’s Quinn (6/29/03)

QU5V3190Sage is a sweet young gelding from Canada.  We had him sent to us as a consignment horse and decided to keep him because he was such a nice guy.  He’s working in the lesson program for now.  Sage has a curious personality.  He is always the first to the fence line for a pat or a treat.  He also is really good at games.  This pony flies when barrel racing or pole bending.

H.D. Sebastian (7/17/94)

DSCN0798Sebastian is a half sibling to Helle, sharing the same dam, SF Signe.  He’s shorter and rounder.  He’s laid back, a stalwart of our lesson program who can go for hours and hours, and a solid citizen.  We are pleased to have him on the farm and he’s much loved by our lesson students.
